CONSTRUCTION NEWS ARCHIVE
FEBRUARY
We returned from our half term holiday on the 28th February to see that tremendous progress had been made during our week off! The walls have now started to grow - both internally and externally - on the extension and we can see some door and window frames!

Bricks and stone were delivered by the lorry load on the 16th February. The first picture below shows the stone which will provide the finish on the external walls. The second picture shows work continuing on the foundations, the third, where the new access path across the field will eventually be and picture number four is of some of our Governing Body visiting the site before their termly meeting.

Monday 14th February saw the concrete being poured for the foundations.

St Valentines Day also was the day that our youngest children - many of whom will actually be in the new classroom next year - visit the construction site. This now means that all the children in school have been up to the site. My grateful thanks to Andy (Project manager) and Pip (Site manager) from Henry Boot Limited for being so accomodating.

By the 9th February the layout of the ground floor of the extension was more obvious. If you look at the picture below (left hand side) the section where the wheelbarrow is will become our new Class One (Foundation Stage Area) and the other half will be an entrance area and the lift (for which the shaft can be clearly seen). The photograph on the right hand side shows the area where the Multi Use Games Area (MUGA) will go and initially (next September) our temporary classrooms.

Also on the 9th February Class 3 made their first visit to the site. They get the "prize" for the muddiest visit so far!

Some wet, windy and wild "Heptonstall" weather saw the builders carry on regardless on the 4th February. Work continued on the lift shaft with concrete being added to the steel cage. It is very exciting to see the "shape" of our new building beginning to emerge!
The first of February saw the digging out of the lift shaft in the foundations of the new extension. It also saw our oldest children make a visit up to the site.
