Thursday 7th July 2011 - Class trip to Harlow Carr in Harrogate.

Class 3 had a lovely day at Harlow Carr. They explored the gardens and took part in a 'sculpitats' workshop, in which the children created sculptures of animals using chicken wire and filled them and decorated them with materials they could find in the woods around them.

Monday 4th July 2011 - Action Aid Indian workshop at school 

As part of class 3's topic all about India they took part in an afternoon workshop run by Action Aid.

They got to try clothes on, make jewellery and examine things from India.

Monday 23rd May 2011 - Class trip to The Lowry in Manchester

Class 3 had a great time at the Lowry. They took part in a 2 hour workshop with an artist who showed them how to draw industrial landscapes like LS Lowry did. He also showed the children how to make 3D Lowry landscapes.

The children also had time to explore the art gallery and see some of Lowry's actual art work.

 

 Monday 11th April 2011 - Class trip to Camelot 

Class 3 had a fantastic time at Camelot  - the rain did not spoil the fun at all.

The children watched the jousting display, attended Merlin's magic show and managed to go on loads of rides.

The children were heard saying that it was the best trip they'd ever been on!!

Tuesday 29th March 2011 - Tree planting

Class 3 went tree planting at Colden. We caught the bus from school to Colden, did our tree planting and then had a nice leisurely walk back to school via Jack bridge.

Wednesday 5th January - Wednesday 19th January 2011 - Local History

Children have been learning all about local history.

They have been out and about exploring the locality around our school. They have completed a numeracy trail around the village and recreated some old photographs of the village.

        

 

Thursday 25th November 2010 - Tutankhamun exhibition Manchester.

Children learnt all about the discovery of Tutankhamun's tomb and it's treasures.

They explored the museum with audio aids and watched videos about the boy king and the discovery of his tomb. They saw 3 out of the 5 rooms in the tomb recreated along with all the treasures which were found in the tomb. One of the high lights was seeing the golden sarcophagus and Tutankhamun's death mask.

A fantastic day was had by all children and staff.

                                       

                     

Monday 4th October 2010 - Dewa Roman Experience Chester.

Children took a trip back in time to Roman Chester.

They explored the Dewa museum and found out about what it was like in Chester during Roman times, they explored real Roman ruins found by an archeologist underneath the museum and experienced Roman games and activities hands on. Finally the children were given a walk around Chester taking in the Roman gardens, the ampitheatre and the Roman city walls which was led by a Roman soldier.

A fantastic day was had by everybody.
