Our cooked meals are prepared at Riverside Junior School. There is a varied and balanced menu operating on a 3 weekly rotation (see below for details).
There is a choice of meals each day and special dietary needs can be catered for.
Meals cost £2.00 a day, £10.00 a week. This can be paid at the start of each day, at the start of each week or on a half-termly basis. If you are paying by cheque please make cheques payable to Heptonstall J, I & N School.
Any child who wishes to bring a packed lunch from home is welcome to do so. The food that is brought in for this purpose is only to be consumed at lunchtime in the hall. Healthy packed lunches are strongly encouraged. Drinks must not be brought in breakable flasks or glass bottles. All leftover food and wrappings must be taken home by the child.
Pupils are encouraged to drink water during the school day. There is a water dispenser in each room.
Sweets should not be brought into school with the exception of a child’s birthday. On this day we allow them to give sweets out at the end of the school day if they wish.
Free School Meals
From September 2014 all children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 will be entitled to a free school lunch. However, if you think your child would be entitled to a free meal anyway, it is essential that you continue to apply as the school is able to claim additional grants which will benefit your child in school.
If you are in receipt of any of the following then please make a claim using the form below. This will benefit the school and your child even if they do not want to have a school meal.
- Income Support
- Income-based Jobseekers Allowance
- Child benefit for the child/children
- Support under Part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
- the guaranteed element of State Pension Credit
- Child Tax Credit (provided there is no entitlement to Working Tax Credit and gross annual income is less than £16,190)
- Universal Credit
