Happy St David’s Day

Good Morning Everyone (and to any Welsh readers out there “Dydd Gwyl Dewi Hapus!”).

As you will have read in Miss Dodd’s post from the 28th February, our School Council had a lovely time on Wednesday this week when they visited Dean Field School in Halifax. They met their colleagues from the other School Councils in the Family of Learning Trust (whom they had first met back here in October) they had a tour of Dean Field School and presented a PowerPoint all about Heptonstall’s past, present and future to the other three councils whilst enjoying presentations in turn from the other schools there.

It was lovely to see how the children interacted with their peers from the other schools – there are some genuine friendships building - and there were quite a few “hugs” between some of the children when it was time to say goodbye. That is exactly what this is all about.

Some photos of the morning will be shown on a slide show before the Good Work Assembly this afternoon.

We are hoping to hold one more joint School Council event in the summer term.

A reminder that here next Thursday (World Book Day) we are encouraging the children to bring their favourite bedtime story and come dressed in Pajama’s for the day (see last Friday’s post for more details).

If the children have made (or are going to make) the paper plate book character these too should be brought in on the 7th.

Advance notice for you that on the final Monday of this term – 18th March – we will be holding teacher/parent sessions. Acorns and Oaks will begin appointments at 3.40pm (with the last being at 5.50pm) whilst Sapling appointments will begin at 1.20pm (with the last being at 5.50pm).

As last time if you are a parent of a Sapling pupil it would be extremely helpful -if you are able to come earlier- if you book one of the afternoon slots. If you wanted to take your child (and any siblings) home once you had seen Mr Longstaff this would be fine (but you don’t have to!).

You can book a time by Dojo-ing your child’s teacher/s from Monday next week (not before please). Please give a window of time (e.g “Between 4.30pm – 5.00pm) rather than a specific time slot.

A reminder that it is our Good Work Assembly today beginning at 2.45pm. As well as all the usual goodies, Jocasta from the PFA will be announcing the winners of the PFA new logo competition during the assembly.

Due to the Easter Holidays our next Good Work Assembly is not until Friday April 26th.

I hope you all have a lovely weekend
