School Closed today

Good Morning Everyone.

SCHOOL WILL BE CLOSED TODAY

The latest forecast update (6.36am) from the Met Office shows heavy snow for Hebden Bridge for most of the day. The amber warning remains in place from 12pm today.

Although it is not snowing yet, as I wrote yesterday afternoon, I have to take account of the forecast for the day (and also take into account the advice that schools were given yesterday by Calderdale).

This is a decision that I have not taken lightly (and one that has kept me awake most of the night thinking about).

Hindsight at the end of today may prove me wrong but I would rather be wrong by trusting the forecast, closing school and therefore guaranteeing that all of you, your children and staff stay safe today than be wrong and open the school, ignore the forecast and advice and by doing so cause potentially serious consequences for everyone if the forecast is correct.

Of all the things that I am going to miss the very least once I have retired it is having to make this snow open/closed decision. It is a huge responsibility.

The forecast for tomorrow is more for rain than snow so I do not foresee any issues at present for Friday.

I will of course update you should that become necessary.
