What we’ve been learning so far this year!

Summer 2022-2023

In Art the children have started the new topic which is all about LS Lowry. The children looked at some of his artwork and answered questions about each picture. We even had an amazing drawing from Boris Lowry where he recreated the photo of ‘Going to the Match, (1928).

In geography the children are looking at Marvellous Manchester. In this lesson the children identified cities around the Uk and explained where Manchester was.

In computing the children have started a new topic which is all about Logos. In this lesson the children were introducing themselves to the program 2 logo and getting use to the commands and language used for it.

In RE the children have looked at the Ten Commandments and ranked the 10 rules in order of importance.

Spring 2022-2023

In Science the children have been looking at rocks for their topic and they had to sort the types of rocks depending on the characteristics of them.

In History the children have been learning about the tools and clothing that Neolithic people used when they lived on our planet.

In French the children created a poster all about what their dislikes (Je n’ aime pas) and likes (J’ aime) of food. We’ve also been learning about families.

The children have started a new book called Leo and the Gorgon’s curse. The children wrote their own sentences using adverbs in their writing.

We all had fun in the Snow too!

In Sapling Class we have been learning all about the Mayans

We have made Mayan masks and listened to two stories from the Mayan culture - The Chocolate Tree and the Rain Maker which have formed the basis of much of our English work.

Our maths work at the start of the half term has been focused on place value.

In Computing Saplings have been learning about Coding and in our music lessons they have been singing a song all about the Mayans "M-A-Y-A-N" (think YMCA but with different letters formed by the hands!) and they have also been learning some sons from Mexico such as La Cucaracha and Poco Loco (from the film Coco).
